Description

Notification of Agency intent to Negotiate on a Sole-Source Basis:=20 The Social Security Administration (SSA) intends to negotiate solely with Sterling Commerce, Incorporated located at 12355 Sunrise Valley Drive, Reston, VA 20191-0768 to obtain nationwide software upgrades and maintenance support as described herein. The Social Security Administration has previously conducted extensive market research and published source sought notice in the CBD (SSA-NW-0001, dated: 8/03/01) in regards to this requirement. SSA owns 72 licenses consisting of the following Sterling Commerce Software products: 55 Licenses of Connect:Direct for Mainframes (MVS/HUB, MVS/ARS, MVS/NW, MVS/SDF, MVS/ESF and MVS/VSE); 17 Licenses of Connect:Direct for Personal Computers (Netware, DOS, OS2, Tandem, OS/400, Windows NT and UNIX). SSA plans to upgrade the above MVS products to OS/390. Sterling Commerce is the only known source capable of providing upgrades and maintenance support for these proprietary software products. Additional, more specific information documenting the Government?s requirement can be obtained at the Government e-Commerce portal (www.fedbizops.gov) under the attachment/document name SSA-12-14-001-info. This is not a request for quotations or an announcement of a forthcoming solicitation. Requests for copies of this solicitation will not be honored or acknowledged. The Government does not intend to pay for information received. All interested parties must respond, in writing, within 10 calendar days from the date of this notice. Written responses must provide clear and concise documentation indicating your firm?s capability to provide the proprietary software services. Telephonic and verbal responses are not acceptable and will not be considered. When responding to this announcement, respondents should refer to SSA-12-14-001. If after December 14, 2001, no viable responses have been received in response to this announcement, SSA shall negotiate solely with Sterling Commerce, Incorporated.
