- Description
- The Natick Soldier Center located at the U.S. Army Soldier and Biological and Chemical Command, Natick, MA is looking for Companies with the capabilities and facilities to provide COTS, NDI or near NDI Body Cooling System. The United States Special Operations Command (USSOCOM) is currently applying for approval of a Foreign Comparative Testing (FCT) Program (www.acq.osd.mil/sts/fct). USSOCOM is interested in contracting with vendors who are currently using the most advanced technologies and methodologies in the design and fabrication of items which, when used in conjunction with protective garments, can regulate the body temperature of warfighters working in extremely high temperature and humidity environmental conditions. The government may decide to acquire for testing purposes one or more vendor products that appear to meet or exceed the stated criteria. Vendors must have adequate fabrication and test facilities to warrant pre-production testing and limited procurement of cooling suits. Responses are requested of those suppliers who can provide a working hardware system ready for test and demonstration purposes on or about 01 November 2001 and capable of providing a product with a minimum of 150 watts of cooling and meeting the following criteria: 1) technology can be shown to allow operators to comfortably and safely accomplish demanding physical tasks for at least 90 minutes in extremely high temperature and humidity environmental conditions without recharging or refueling; 2) the technology can be shown to be capable of being recharged or refueled beyond the 90 minutes initial use with limited logistical burden 3) it can be shown that the weight of the stand alone cooling is less than 15 pounds/6.8 kilograms and when worn does not cause excessive operator fatigue. Safety Requirements are not yet defined. There will be significant Safety Requirements/Standards which the Vendors will have to meet. Responses to this market survey are due on or before 01 April 2001, and must include a product description with performance parameters and a statement regarding current availability, summary of prior testing, test reports, summary of logistic and maintenance requirements and an estimated cost for the price of test articles and production units. Please provide name of firm, address, POC, phone/fax number, and email address. Submit data of the item to US Army Soldier Biological Chemical Command, ATTN: AMSSB-RIP-SP (Catherine Hurley), Kansas Street, Bldg 4, Rm. D218, Natick, MA 01760. This synopsis does not constitute an Invitation for Bid or Request for Proposals, and is not to be construed as a commitment by the government to issue an order or otherwise pay for the information solicited.
