- Description
- Air Force Research Laboratory, Materials and Manufacturing Directorate, (AFRL/MLSA), solicits research proposals for Nondestructive Evaluation (NDE) Exploratory Development for Air Force Systems. The goal of this program is to provide and maintain for the United States Air Force a strong Nondestructive Evaluation Exploratory Development capability for rapid reaction support for critical Air Force NDE requirements. This program shall provide quick reaction support for Materials and Process (M&P) issues relating to nondestructive inspection (NDI). This will address nondestructive inspection and characterization issues and requirements which affect existing weapon system operations and maintenance (O&M) capabilities as identified by Air Logistics Centers (ALCs) or engineering and manufacturing development (EMD) and/or production issues as identified by Air Force System Program Offices (SPOs). Systems may include aircraft, remotely piloted vehicles (RPV), space and space related systems, launch vehicles, missile systems, and static/mobile support equipment. The program duration is estimated at 76 months. Technical progress, financial status, and annual reports will be required. This program will be conducted on-site at AFRL/MLSA, Wright-Patterson AFB, OH, in order to reduce cost and utilize available specialized research equipment. Prospective Offerors must demonstrate the capability to provide a quick reaction response to tasking requirements in order to accomplish the requirements in a timely manner, and will be required to maintain a full technical staff at AFRL/MLSA.
