COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF MARCH 18,1999 PSA#2305Naval Air Warfare Center Training Systems Division, Code 257, 12350
Research Parkway, Orlando, Fl 32826-3224 69 -- LIGHT ASSAULT/ATTACK RECONFIGURABLE COMBAT MISSION SIMULATOR
(LASAR CMS) POC Sally Payne, Contract Specialist (407) 380 4027,
William E. Kitterman, Contracting Officer (407) 380-8171 The Army is
requesting information from industry to assist in the development of an
AH/MH-6M LASAR CMS. The simulator will be required to support
individual training and a mission rehearsal capability interoperable
with other U.S. Special Operation Command (USSOCOM) Mission Rehearsal
Systems. Concepts from both commercial off the shelf and/or new
developments are requested. The Army is requesting rough, "ballpark"
estimates for unit and life cycle cost based on the acquisition of one
simulator. The required characteristics are a full-fidelity,
reconfigurable cockpit replication of both AH and MH aircraft in form,
fit, and function (including in the AH weapons firing and effects).
The image generator (IG) will be capable of rendering a high fidelity
out the window scene; correlated sensor simulation and support the
field of view of the AH/MH-6M aircraft. The IG will be compatible with
data bases generated by USSOCOM and/or the 160th SOAR (A) Planning and
Rehearsal Information Support Database GenerationSystem. Distributed
Interactive Simulation (DIS) and High Level Architecture (HLA)
networking capability with all other compatible USSOCOM
training/rehearsal devices is also required. Associated subsystems
include a high performance motion system, digital control loading, high
fidelity flight and performance model, a threat modeling system, an
environmental modeling system, communications, observation, data
recording, electronic combat environment, and weapon systems. An
Industry conference will be conducted at the 160th SOAR(A) Command at
Ft Campbell, KY on 20 April 1999, to discuss and refine the
requirements. Information briefings will be conducted by 160th SOAR(A)
command, MH-AH-6 Subject Mater Experts, and STRICOM personnel. POCs
for this conference are MAJ. N. Thurgood at (407) 384 5224, e-mail
neil_thurgood@stricom.army.mil Sally Payne, (407) 380 4027, e-mail
sally-payne@stricom.army.mil. Request to attend the industry conference
should be received no later than 1 April 1999. It is expected that
draftrequirement documents will be posted to the STRICOM web page in
the next 30 days. (www.stricom.army.mil). THIS IS NOT A REQUEST FOR
PROPOSALS. Responses to this notice are not offers and cannot be
accepted by the Government to form a binding contract, nor do they
incur any liability or obligation on the Government to take any further
