COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF SEPTEMBER 4,1998 PSA#217418 -- MILSATCOM'98 SYMPOSIUM The MILSATCOM Joint Program Office
announces the 4th AFCEA/MILSATCOM Symposium. This classified
conference, sponsored by the Los Angeles chapter of the Armed Forces
Communications and Electronics Association, is scheduled for 5-6
November 1998 and will be held at the Aerospace Corporation, El
Segundo, CA, with a banquet at the Marriott, Manhattan Beach, CA. This
year's MILSATCOM Symposium, Users' Perspective, emphasizes the
emerging vision of Military Satellite Communication services to the
warfighter. Topics of the symposium include Air Force, Army, and Navy
MILSATCOM requirements, and commercial and military satellite
communication integration issues. Keynote speakers will include
Lieutenant General (s) Jack Woodward, USAF, Joint Chiefs of Staff
Director for Command, Control, Communications and Computers Systems
(JCS/J6), and Vice Admiral Lyle Bien, USN, Deputy, CINC/Chief of Staff,
USSPACECOM. Lieutenant General David J. Kelley, USA, Director, Defense
Information Systems Agency, has been invited as the banquet speaker.
Each of the Services and the DoD will address their unique requirements
for satellite communications and both military and industry panels will
discuss the application of commercial systems to MILSATCOM and the
integration of commercial systems into the military infrastructure. In
addition, demonstrations of the Global Broadcast System, Iridium, and
Milstar satellite communications systems will take place.
Registration: All registrants are required to complete a Registration
Form and return it with their payment and security clearance (minimum
of SECRET level) to AFCEA no later than 30 October 1998. Early
registration is available until 16 October 1998. Attendance will be
limited to the first 180 completed registration packages received.
Payment and clearances must accompany the Registration Form or they
will not be honored. Registration forms and fee information are
