Description
Petroleum and Water Systems Symposium 18-20 February 2002 La Mansion del Hotel San Antonio, TX 78205 Contact: Mr. Bob Ament (810) 753-2152 Sponsored by Product Mgr., Petroleum and Water Systems (PAWS), PM Force Projection, TACOM, and Southwest Research Institute (SwRI), with administrative support by the National Defense Industrial Association (NDIA) Michigan Chapter. SCOPE AND OBJECTIVE: This First Petroleum and Water Systems Symposium will bring together Government and Industry to discuss issues relevant to future trends in Petroleum and Water Systems Acquisitions and Fielding. It will introduce a new approach to industry and establish a broader teaming relationship to move forward in the 21 st Century in support of the fighting men and women. This forum affords the opportunity for networking and enhancing the lines of communication in an unstructured and informal atmosphere. The symposium will offer formal presentations by government and industry personnel, exhibits, demonstrations, and open discussions. In addition, a visit to Southwest Research Institute (SwRI) has been planned to view the TARDEC Petroleum Laboratory and other facilities at SwRI in the area of water and petroleum systems. THEME: Over the years Petroleum and Water purification, temporary storage, transfer, and quality inspection equipment acquisitions were handled as purchases of individual components. As a result industry was not involved with, nor fully understood, how the individual components were used and integrated to support field missions. In FY01 the procurement focus changed to buying systems to achieve better integration of technologies and equipment to support the field and achieve higher levels of interoperability. Water and Petroleum account for over 70% of the projected sustainment tonnage of an interim brigade. As the operational tempo of US Army deployments increase, the requirements for Petroleum and Water Systems are critical regardless of the mission: high intensity conflict, low intensity conflict, or a humanitarian effort. Therefore, Industry and the Army in cooperation with DARPA, the other services, and our allies must address the difficult tasks of reducing the liquid logistical burden, system deployment and retrieval rates, and the demand on strategic lift assets in support of Army Transformation goals. The Product Manager for Petroleum and Water Systems (PM PAWS), as the Army's single point of contact for petroleum and water systems, is responsible for research, development, test, procurement, and fielding of these systems, and has taken the lead to make this transformation. LODGING: A block of guest rooms have been reserved at a special rate from February 18-20, 2002 at the La Mansion del Rio Hotel (800) 292-7300. Government Rate: $91.00 per diem rate + tax per day (ID required). Industry Rate: $179.00 + tax per day. Please make your own room reservations and identify yourself as a TACOM/NDIA symposium attendee to enable you to take advantage of these special group rates. Reservations must be made by January 21, 2002 to take advantage of these low rates. EXHIBITORS NDIA is offering 8' x 8' exhibition booths at the hotel, but these are limited and we recommend you respond early. These booths are available at $900 each for the duration of the symposium. In addition, there is space available for tabletop displays ($250), and poster displays ($100), as well as outdoor displays (prices will vary depending on size). Space will be allocated on a first come, first serve basis. In addition, NDIA is offering each exhibitor two registration fees at the discounted cost of $190 per person. This will allow representatives from your organization to participate in the symposium sessions, as well as all meals and refreshments. If your organization is interested in being an exhibitor, please contact: Angela Schofield -- email -- businesser@aol.com.
