Description

Vessel needed to perform mid-water trawling and acoustic transects four times each year. The sampling will be used to estimate Steller sea lion prey availability at two sites in southeast Alaska. The vessel shall have: a minimum registered length of 58 ft, a minimum continuous horsepower output from the main engine of 325, able to maintain a minimum cruising speed of at least 9 nm/hr in low sea states, a fuel capacity for at least 12 days of continuous fishing operations, a protected work area on deck of at least 120 sq ft, a crane or boom capable of lifting 5 mt, and office desk area, a 14' skiff or rigid hulled inflatable boat with an outboard motor, a potable fresh water supply adequate for vessel and personal use for at least 6 people for 12 days, and accommodations for crew and scientific field party of 3 scientists. Minimum crew shall consist of a Captain, a lead-fishermen, and a cook-fisher, one of whom shall act as engineer. Performance begins and ends at either Juneau or Auke Bay, Alaska. There are four performance periods during the base contract period: May 22-June 2,2002; September 4-17, 2002; November 27-December 10,2002, and March 26-April 8,2003. There will also be options for 3 additional contract years with similar performance periods inside each contract year. This procurement is 100% small business set-aside.
