- Description
- THIS IS AN ANNOUNCEMENT OF A PROPOSED VENDOR DAY. This announcement is in support of a study being conducted for the Air Force by ProLogic, Inc, of West Virginia. The study is to determine requirements for, and potential sources capable of providing, a three dimensional (3D) visualization capability, and demonstrating that capability at a Vendor Day. The focus of the study is the identification of operational requirements, capabilities of current COTS technology to meet those requirements, and developing an approach to demonstrate the capabilities presently available. The current visualization emphasis is on rendering data (maps, charts, flight profiles, graphs, weather, etc) in two and three visual dimensions. Changes to the Department of Defense Common Operating Environment (COE) and to on going application development efforts will begin to introduce information visualization as an important operational requirement. The form(s) that this requirement will take are still evolving. The purpose of this announcement is to determine vendor interest in a proposed 3D Visualization Vendor Day, to allow potential customers and program managers to see a cross section of currently available 3D Visualization products and technology. The time and location of the Vendor Day have not yet been determined, but could potentially be held in January or February 2002. The Vendor Day will also assist the Air Force in formulating the 3D Visualization requirements and provide information on the COTS products capable of addressing those requirements. Any information submitted by the respondents to this announcement is strictly voluntary. Neither the government nor ProLogic will pay for any information that is submitted by respondents. Interested offerors should submit a statement of their qualifications with respect to the features discussed above and the desired characteristics below. Responses should include descriptions (names, brochures, capabilities, etc) of visualization products successfully developed. The interested sources should consider the following: (1) Experience in the successful design, development and marketing of visualization products; (2) The use, support and evolution of those products in a military environment; (3) Design and development of a secure system (meets some level of information assurance); (4) Integrating COTS products with military hardware and software; (5) Ability to create products which can work with and/or be modified to work with the Common Operating Environment (COE). Responses must be submitted electronically to the study manager, Mr. Paul Maguire, pmaguire@prologic-inc.com, no later than 5:00 p.m. Eastern Standard Time, two weeks after the publication of this announcement. Additional project information can be obtained from Mr. Maguire at (703-598-5780). This announcement neither constitutes a Request for Proposal, nor does it restrict ProLogic to an ultimate approach. This announcement should not be construed as a commitment for any purpose. If the proposed Vendor Day is held, the vendors will be responsible for covering all of their own related expenses. The government does not intend to pay for the participation of any vendor to take part in the proposed Vendor Day.
