Description

The National Institute of Standards & Technology (NIST) has a requirement for three laser tables. The tables will be used to perform experiments with laser-cooled ions in miniature traps. Extremely high damping of vibration is required for all tabletops and supporting legs. The specifications for tabletops and legs are as follows: (1) Optical table 4 ft. x 14 ft. x 12 inches. Tabletop stainless steel, surface flatness less or equal to 0.004" over minimum 2' distance, 1/4 to 20 tapped holes in rectangular grid with 1" spacing, holes sealed and contaminant-free. Maximum compliance (100 to 500 Hz) 10 to the minus 5 in/lb, static deflection less or equal to 10 to minus 6 in/lb. Table bottom drilled to accept table legs. Quantity 2. (2) Set of six vibration isolation support legs (not interconnected) for Item 1. Active leveling. Height 28 inches. Natural vertical oscillation frequency less than 1.1 Hz, horizontal oscillation frequency less than 1.5 Hz, vertical transmissibility at 5 Hz less or equal to 0.05, horizontal transmissibility at 5Hz less or equal to 0.2. Laminar flow damping. Quantity 2 sets. (3) Optical table 4 ft. x 10 ft. x 12 inches. Table top stainless steel, surface flatness less or equal to 0.004" over minimum 2' distance, 1/4 to 20 tapped holes in rectangular grid with 1" spacing, holes sealed and contaminant-free. Maximum compliance (100 to 500 Hz) 5 by 10 to minus 6 in/lb, static deflection less or equal to 5 by 10 to minus 7 in/lb. Maximum dynamic deflection coefficient less than 0.7 by 10 to minus 3, maximum realtive motion value less than 5.5 by 10 to minus 9 inch. Table bottom drilled to accept table legs. Quantity 1. (4) Set of four vibration isolation support legs (not interconnected) for Item 3. Active leveling. Height 28 inches. Vertical oscillation frequency less than 1.1 Hz, horizontal oscillation frequency less than 1.5 Hz, vertical transmissibility at 5 Hz less or equal to 0.05, horizontal transmissibility at 5Hz less or equal to 0.2. Laminar flow damping. Quantity 1 set. As the technical merit becomes more equal, price becomes a greater factor. This procurement is being conducted under Simplified Acquisition Procedures.
