Description

The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) intends to negotiate, on a sole source basis, under authority of FAR 13.106-1(b)(1), with Axsys Technologies, Inc., of Rochester Hills, MI, for acquisition of one set of Cryogenic IR Mirrors, plus Non-Recurring Tooling and Engineering, to replace the mirror set currently in use by the Low-Background Infrared Facility of the Optical Technology Division at NIST.*****Sole source determination is based on the need for compatibility with the existing spectral instrument, for which the mirrors are being acquired. Axsys Technologies fabricated the original set of mirrors according to NIST specifications and is therefore uniquely qualified to fabricate the replacement set and accompanying tooling and engineering.*****Delivery shall be FOB Destination, Gaithersburg, MD, and is required within 18 weeks or less from receipt of purchase order (ARO).*****The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code for this acquisition is 333314, and the size standard is 500 Employees.*****No solicitation package will be issued. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotations. However, responses received by December 26, 2001, will be considered by the Government. A determination by the Government not to compete the proposed acquisition based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.*****See Note 26.
