Description

The Government is requesting information on portable, ruggedized medical diagnostic systems. The systems should be mature technology, either commercial or in development, requiring only limited engineering and hardening to make them suitable for field use . The system will be a reusable, portable and modifiable biological agent identification and diagnostic device capable of simultaneous identification of multiple biological agents and toxins of operational concern and other pathogens of clinical significa nce. The system will provide fast reliable and specific identification of toxins, bacteria and viruses from a variety of clinical specimens (e.g. blood, urine or fecal material) and environmental samples to support effective and timely medical interventio n and treatment. The system will be capable of identifying at least 8 different biological agents simultaneously. The program will focus on obtaining systems that are FDA licensable, with a low logistics and maintenance burden and a capability of provid ing rapid testing and results (less than 2 hours). Information papers or articles should clearly and concisely articulate the system's key performance parameters. All information provided becomes the property of the Government.
