Description

PM Mortars and TACOM-ARDEC plan to purchase approximately 500 120mm mortar cartridges, on a sole source basis in accordance with FAR 6.302-1(a) (2) (ii), from Thomson Daimlerchrysler Aerospace (TDA) of France for the US Marine Corps Warfighting Laboratory (MCWL). The MCWL will use the cartridges for tests and demonstrations of the Mobile Fire Support System (MFSS) scheduled for the January through March 2002 time frame. MFSS was developed by PM Mortars/TACOM- ARDEC for the MCWL. The system employs the 2R2M rifled 120mm mortar furnished by TDA. The 2R2M is a rifled mortar system with a semi-automated loading system. PM Mortars/TACOM-ARDEC will purchase a mix of HE, Extended Range, Smoke and Illuminating cartridges developed specifically for the rifled tube used on the 2R2M. The ammunition is required to be delivered to the US Marine Corps facility at 29 Palms California on or before 18 January 2002. See Note 22.
