- Description
- The U.S. Army TACOM-ARDEC, Picatinny Arsenal, NJ is interested in obtaining small test samples of commercially available .22 caliber rimfire ammunition with lead-free projectiles. This action is a follow-up to a previous CBD market survey notice published in May 2001. These samples should satisfy all current performance specifications (MIL-PRF-70600A) while not adversely affecting the environment. The performance specification, MIL-PRF-70600A(AR) is available for download below. A quantity of approximately 500 lead-free projectiles or complete (loaded) cartridges would be satisfactory at no cost to the government. The samples are intended to test, verify and finalize the requirements for this product change (from lead to lead-free), so that a formal solicitation can be announced in the near future. The technical requirements of this future solicitation are anticipated to include, but are not limited to: materials used (environmental impact), performance, production capacity, and cost. This is not a request for cost/technical proposals at this time. A formal request for proposal will be issued in the near future. At this time, responses are being accepted for lead-free projectiles or complete (loaded) cartridges. However, the future solicitation is anticipated to call only for complete cartridges. Any and all deliveries will result in no future obligation to the Government. Contractors are required to package and ship in accordance with CFR 49. FAR Clause 52.242-12, Report of Shipment is applicable. Contractors must comply with this requirement to provide a one day notice prior to shipment. The person to contact is John Buch, 973-724-5617. Shipment to be made to the following address: U.S. Army TACOM-ARDEC (W907CC), Ammunition Receiving Office, ATTN: Mr. John Buch, Building 806, Picatinny Arsenal, NJ 07806-5000.
