Description

The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) has a requirement for the fabrication of a series of both small and large neutron and gamma ray shields of high precision and quality for the NIST Center for Neutron Research. The Government is currently operating under a Continuing Resolution; therefore, this requirement is subject to the availability of funds in accordance with FAR Clause 52.232-18, Availability of Funds. The Contractor shall supply all labor including certified welders, equipment, and materials to fabricate aluminum, steel, or stainless steel neutron and gamma ray shields in accordance with drawings supplied with each delivery order and in accordance with ANSI Y14.5M. The Contractor shall be located within a 30-mile radius by automobile of the NIST, Gaithersburg, Maryland site to allow for inspection of deliverables at the contractor's site by NIST personnel. Delivery of finished neutron and gamma ray shields shall be FOB Destination, NIST, Gaithersburg, Maryland. The government anticipates awarding an Indefinite Delivery, Indefinite Quantity contract for a period of one year with two option years. This acquisition is a 100% small business set-aside. The NAICS code is 332313 with a size standard of 500 employees. The competitive solicitation, solicitation amendments, and all questions and answers related to this procurement will be made available via the Internet at Hyperlink http://www.fedbizops.gov/. The solicitation,=20 SB1341-02-R-0012 is anticipated for release to the vendor community on or about=20 December 11, 2001 and will only be available via the Internet at the above web site. Potential offerors are responsible for accessing the web site. Interested parties must respond to the solicitation in order to be considered for award of any resultant contract. There is no written solicitation document available, telephone requests will not be honored, and no bidders list will be maintained.
