- Description
- The National Cancer Institute (NCI), intends to negotiate a commercial item (FAR Part 12) sole-source contract with Miltenyi Biotec, Inc., Suite 208, 251 Auburn Ravine Road, Auburn, CA 95603, for a Cell Separator. This action is pursuant to 41 USC 253 (c)(1) and under the authority of FAR 6.302-1: Only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements. Researchers of the Laboratory of Tumor Immunology and Biology (LTIB), are involved in the development of novel cancer immunotherapy strategies, with emphasis being placed on the development of recombinant vaccines. Studies include identification of the appropriate gene product target, appropriate vectors to enhance immunogenicity, and to use the cytokines and co-stimulatory molecules to enhance T-cell activation. Studies on the design and use of recombinant pox viruses to present T-cell costimulatory signals area also under way. Additionally, the LTIB is conducting research on the separation of both murine and human immune cell populations. The immunomagnetic cell separation system is required to enable researchers to perform rapid separations in a sterile environment. This will dramatically reduce the amount of time for cell separation from approximately 2 hours to 4 minutes, increase yield and purity of cells, and enhance reproducibility due to automation of the process. Requirements: shall have two (2) separate buffer systems to accommodate cells from each species separately; shall be an upgrade for an existing Government-owned (Miltenyi Biotec) cell sorter; shall be compatible and work with existing magnetically labeled antibodies; and, shall provide consistency of data. The LTIB investigators believe that the aforementioned instrument and organization is the only known source that can satisfy their requirement. Shall include the following: #90-273 autoMACS magnetic cell sorter; #130-021-102 starter kit; and, #201-09 premium one year warranty. Shall also include one (1) year regular warranty at no additional cost to the Government. This is not a request for competitive quotation, however, if any interested party believes it can meet the above requirement, they may submit a statement of capabilities. Information furnished shall be in writing and shall contain sufficient detail, to allow NCI to determine if the party can meet the requirement. Capability statements must be received in the Contracts Office by 1:00 PM EST on December 5, 2001. If you have any questions, please contact Malinda Holdcraft, Purchasing Agent on (301) 402-4509. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.
