Description

NASA/JSC plans to issue a Request for Offers for the Rehabilitation of the Ellington Field Aircraft Hanger. JSC will issue a firm fixed price contract. Funds are not currently available; if funds become available each contract will be awarded with an order of magnitude of $1,000,000 to $5,000,000 over a one-year contract performance period, beginning in FY 2002. The contract will be awarded under the North American Industrial Classification System (NAICS) Code 233320. The desired work on hanger E135 is composed of an open high-bay aircraft hanger, a two story east office wing, a two story west office wing and a high-bay metal building on the west side that is attached to the west wing. The largest part of the project includes demolishing the east wing, and replacing it with a new structure. The base portion of the contract will include the east wing and some improvements on the west side fire alarm system for compatibility to the new wing, the fire alarm system being common to the entire facility. This basic part of the contract also includes an equipment pad fire lane that runs the length of the building on the east side. Architectural improvements in the west wing, such as restroom rehabilitation and ceiling tile replacement shall be included. The order of magnitude for the procurement is $1,000,000 to $5,000,000 and the effort shall be completed within 365 calendar days after notice to proceed. A pre-proposal conference has been tentatively scheduled for 1/3/02. This procurement is part of the Small Business Competitiveness Demonstration Program. The NAICS Code and small business size standard for this procurement are 233320 and $27.5 million, respectively. The anticipated release date of the RFO is on or about 12/14/01 with an anticipated offer closing date on or about 1/14/01. The firm date for receipt of bids or offers will be stated in the RFO.
