Description

The National Park Service, Isle Royale National Park, is soliciting bids for all labor, materials, equipment, transportation and travel necessary to construct a three bedroom single family residence at the Windigo location of Isle Royale National Park. Isle Royale National Park is a large, remote island encompassing 571,790 acres in Lake Superior located 70 miles from the mainland administrative area in Houghton, Michigan. Access to the island is limited to boat and seaplane, and due to the duration of travel, daily commutes are not an option that necessitates stays of long duration. From the eastern to western end is a 45-mile boat trip. The park is open from late April through October winterized then abandoned for the winter.
