Description

The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), intends to negotiate, on a sole source basis, under authori ty of FAR 13.106-1(b)(1), with Newport of Irvine, CA, for six (6) Newport high performance precision motorized actuators an d one (1) PC based motion controller/driver with PCI format and the UNIDRIV 6000 multi-axis universal motor driver with six (6) drivers. This equipment shall be utilized in upgrading the motion control hardware associated with an electromechanical balance system. ***Sole source determination is based on the need to have complete compatibility between the equipment being purchased and t he existing Newport stages and control hardware which will not be upgraded at this time.***Delivery shall be FOB Destination , Gaithersburg, MD, and is required within 60 days after receipt of order.***The North American Industry Classification Syst em (NAICS) code for this acquisition is 334516, and the size standard is 500 employees.***No solicitation package will be is sued. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotations, however, responses received by November 26, 2001 s hall be considered by the Government. A determination by the Government not to compete the proposed acquisition based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considere d solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.
