Description

This announcement constitutes a Sources Sought Synopsis. The Coast Guard presently utilizes the JRC model NCT-27 NSK unit to convert and combine signals from the MK-27 gyrocompas and a Doppler Speed Log. This unit provides a NMEA VHW output sentence to an installed navigational computer system. The Coast Guard is seeking to replace this present unit, which is no longer in production and has become costly to maintain. The replacement unit is required to have the following functions: Accept synchro type 1X input; Accept synchro type 36X input;=20 Provide NMEA HDT output sentence; In the event of loss of gyrocompass in put the unit should provide a null NMEA sentence output; provide display readout of heading and offset; provide means of setting heading offset. There is no longer the need to combine the Doppler Speed Log signal to provide a NMEA VHW output. The Coast Guard seeks to identify COTS products that would meet these requirements and evaluate the units for integration into presently installed systems. This is not a Request for Quote or Invitation for Bid. However, after receiving and reviewing the specification package, vendors are encouraged to provide cost estimates. The government does not intend to contract on the basis of this request or otherwise pay for the information solicited.
