Description

Drydock and Repair of NOAA Ship RONALD H. BROWN, to be performed at the contractor's facility. Performance period to commence approximately April 1, 2002, and shall be completed on or before May 31, 2002 (61 calendar days). Drydock: Graving or Single Section Floating. Basic contract items will include Hull Painting, Air Compressor Installations, Propulsion Thruster Inspections, Propeller Seal Renewals, Anchor Chain Maintenance, A-Frame Maintenance, Tank Cleaning, and others. There will also be option items. Vessels current homeport is Charleston, SC. Vessel will be available for inspection January 3, 2002 in Charleston, SC. Characteristics of NOAA Ship RONALD H. BROWN: Length Overall -- 274 feet -- 0 inches; Beam (Moulded) -- 52 feet -- 6 inches; Draft (Navigational) -- 19 feet -- 0 inches; Displacement (FL) -- 3250 LT; Displacement (LS) -- 2100 LT; Gross Tonnage -- 3180 G.T.; Depth to Main Deck -- 26 feet -- 6 inches; Machinery Plant -- Split Bus Diesel Electric. Sustained Speed -- 12 knots; Ship's Propulsion Plant -- 3, Caterpillar 3516 diesel engines with Kato A248440000 generators, 1,500 KW ea; Ship's Service Plant -- 3, Caterpillar 3508 diesel engines with Kato A248410000 generators, 715 KW ea; Main Propulsion Motors -- 2, General Electric 750 vdc @ 3,000 HP ea, fixed pitched, z-drive; Bow Thruster -- 1, General Electric, 1117 HP dc motor with Azimuthing Jet Drive.
