Description
The Defense Information Systems Agency intends to award a sole-source GSA Federal Supply Schedule task order to Sun Microsystems Federal, Inc. for technical services to support SUN systems relative to the Global Command and Control System (GCCS) for one calendar year. The Government believes that Sun Microsystems is the only vendor that can perform these services due to the proprietary nature of the SUN Solaris Operating System. Specific tasks include: (1) designing/integrating work sessions with the Government; (2) identifying and recommending solutions to migration problems pertaining to the Solaris Operating System; (3) developing a technical migration plan for integrating new SUN, GCCS, and Commercial-Off-The-Shelf products into the Common Operating Environment (COE); (4) analyzing and assisting in resolving problems that arise at individual GCCS locations locally and worldwide, including the GCCS test bed systems; (5) aiding the Government in evaluating integration issues as products are integrated into the GCCS COE; (6) identifying performance bottlenecks in system hardware/software configurations and recommending improvements for the performance of the GCCS; (7) diagnosing limitations and risks resulting from current architecture and configuration, identifying and ranking alternative plans for resolving architectural issues, and assisting in implementing the chosen solutions; (8) assessing cost, resolving SUN specific GCCS Problem Reports; (9) providing direct SUN system engineering support. Vendors should have immediate access to SUN internal problem/resolution database; access to information concerning new SUN hardware and software releases that may affect GCCS; access to SUN hardware and software products that can be used for evaluation and testing purposes; access to non-disclosure information that is important for GCCS planning purposes. Vendors shall provide on-site technical support on weekdays from 8:00 a.m. thru 5:00 p.m. Vendors shall also provide support during all shifts and week-ends, when necessary. This synopsis is a notice of intent to issue an award that is not competed among three GSA schedule vendors and should not be considered a request for competitive quotations. The determination of the Government not to open this requirement to competition among three GSA schedule vendors was made in accordance with FAR Part 6.302-1 and 10 USC 2304(c)(1) and is solely at the discretion of the Government. Interested persons may identify their interest and capability by responding to this requirement no later than 2:00 p.m. EST on 23 November 2001 to Barbara Janitis, telephone: 703-607-6913, fax: 703-607-4340. Award is anticipated 28 November 2001
