Description

The Naval Surface Warfare Center, Dahlgren Division (NSWCDD) awarded contract N00178-99-D-1007 on 25 February 1999 on a sole source basis to General Dynamics Armament Systems, Lakeside Avenue, Burlington, VT, 05401 for research and development support in the area of minor caliber gun systems including the MK 15 PHALANX Close In Weapon System (CIWS), Advanced Amphibious Assault Vehicle (AAV), Percussion Electric Conversion Hardware System (PECHS)and Close In Gun System (CIGS). NSWCDD intends to negotiate on a sole source basis a modification to the existing contract to provide additional support during the life of the contract, which will end 25 February 2004. There is a need for greater research and development in the area of continuing engineering improvements and a Low Rate Initial Production of the Enhanced Lethality Cartridge to be used in the MK 15 Close In Weapons System. This additional support will be provided by GDAS based upon their proprietary rights to the hardware and software improvements made to the M61 gatling gun and gun subsystem The Naval Surface Warfare Center, Dahlgren Division, 17320 Dahlgren Road, Dahlgren, VA 22448-5100 has implemented Electronic Commerce (EC) in the acquisition area; therefore, the solicitation with any applicable amendments will be available on the World Wide Web at http://www/nswc.navy.mil.supply.
