Description
The US EPA seeks sources to provide two (2) Wheel Torquemeter Systems for use at the National Vehicle and Fuel Emissions Laboratory in Ann Arbor, MI. The EPA will utilize these Wheel Torquemeter Systems to measure precise wheel torque on a test vehicle while it is driven over a transient driving cycle on a chassis dynamometer. Two wheel torquemeters, one each for the drive wheels of a test vehicle are required. The test vehicle currently contemplated is a 1995 General Motors Sonoma light duty pick-up truck, with 15 inch, five (5) bolt pattern steel wheels. Other vehicles may be used in the future. The subject torquemeters shall have the capability to measure 2,000 lb-in torque full scale, with overload measurement capacity of a minimum of 20,000 lb-in. Resolution shall be at least 0.1% of full scale. The torquemeters shall include mounting brackets or assemblies to permit mounting to 15 inch, five (5) bolt pattern vehicle wheels, supplied by EPA. The torquemeter adaptation to the wheel shall permit the dynamic balancing of wheels using conventional wheel balancing equipment found in current vehicle repair facilities. The subject wheel torquemeters shall have the capability to operate at wheel speeds of at least 3,000 rpm. The torquemeter systems shall include all appropriate signal conditioning and amplification to permit output to current typical high speed data acquisition systems. Sources wishing to be considered should submit documentation within 15 days of the date of publication of this notice. Submit your request in writing to Scott Tharp via Fax (513) 487-2107 or e-mail: Tharp.Scott@epa.gov.
