Description

The Naval Air Systems Command intends to issue a modification to N00019-01-C-0074, a cost type contract, to McDonnell Douglas Corporation (MDC). This modification is to incorporate additional aircraft software functionality and to provide for an option to obtain an additional AESA test unit. As the sole designer, developer and manufacturer of the F/A-18 aircraft weapon systems, only MDC has the requisite knowledge, experience, and technical data required to successfully complete the engineering, analysis, and testing without causing unacceptable delays in meeting the Navy's operational requirements and without substantial duplication of effort to the Government. Furthermore, only MDC has the F/A-18 peculiar engineering data, expertise, facilities, and test equipment to provide the Government's minimum needs in a timely manner.
