- The Space Committee of the National Defense Industrial Association presents the 2002 Space Policy & Architecture Symposium, Feb. 26-27, 2002. Please note that this event is rescheduled from its original Oct. 2001 date. The location has also changed to the Fairview Park Marriott in Falls Church, Virginia. The theme of this symposium is "The Changing Face of Military Space" -- From Capabilities to Personnel to Future Systems, and is sponsored by Maj Gen (S) Michael A. Hamel, USAF, Director, Space Operations and Integration, Deputy Chief of Staff for Air and Space Operations. Invited speakers include Lt Gen Lance W. Lord, USAF, Assistant Vice Chief of Staff, Lt Gen Bruce A. Carlson, USAF, Director, Force Structure, Resources and Assessment; VADM Arhtur K. Cebrowski, USN, Office of Transformation; Maj Gen (S) Daniel P. Leaf, USAF, Deputy Chief of Staff, Air and Space Operations; BG Kevin T. Campbell, USA, Director of Plans, USSPACECOM; Lt Gen Brian Arnold, USAF, Commander, Space & Missile Systems Center; and Maj Gen (S) Craig P. Weston, USAF, Director, Corporate Operations Office, National Reconnaissance Office. This will be a day and a half long event, and will feature panelists discussing the changing needs and priorities of military space forces (in light of Sept. 11), Air Force/National Reconaissance Office "Best Practices," and implementation of the Space Commission recommendations.
