- Description
- This is a design/build contract for the design and construction of the Olmsted Miter Gate Storage Yard at Smithland Locks and Dam. Work consists of foundation system, mooring/retaining wall, concrete work platform (150'& chr (39) and 'x250' & chr (39) & ' which provides for the storage of the maintenance bulkheads), Miter Gate Pier (approximately 22' & chr (39) & 'x32' & chr (39) & 'x63.5' & chr (39) & '), site work, utilities and an access road. Also included is the assembly, erection and painting of the Olmsted Spare Miter Gates (no design required). The miter gate leaves have been fabricated in three main sections plus a bridgeway. The gate section and its components are to be transported from Steward Machine Co., Mt. Vernon, Alabama, to the Storage S ite at Smithland. Offers will be evaluated in accordance with the following criteria, in its descending order of importance: (1) technical approach; (2) Prime contractor experience; (3) past performance; (4) management plan; (5) safety; (6) self-performe d work; (7) subcontracting information and (8) price, with price being approximately equal to all other factors combined. The estimated cost range is $5,000,000 to $10,000,000. The approximate issue date is 26 November 01, with an approximate proposal du e date of 10 Jan 02.
