- Description
- The Environmental Protection Agency intends to award a sole source contract to The International Design Center for the Environment (IDCE) pursuant to 41 USC 253(c)(1): Only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements. The Environmental Protection Agency has a requirement to oversee implementation and installation of an educational exhibit to be located in the gallery area of the new EPA campus at RTP, NC. The purpose of the exhibit is to use the facility itself as a model to encourage and stimulate sustainable practices in building siting, construction, furnishing, and operations. The exhibit will be used to educate employees and the public on measures which have been taken in designing, constructing, and operating the campus as a green building. The exhibit will showcase the life cycle design features of the building and the sustainablity of the overall campus including environmental impacts, costs and functional attributes of the products, and the new facility. This "Know Room" design has been submitted by IDCE and accepted by EPA. IDCE has been involved in developing a new Life Cycle Assessment tool to assist both manufacturers of products used in building construction and furnishings as well as consumers and users of the products which is a result of their unique knowledge concerning the EPA facility. IDCE has made themselves intimately aware and knowledgeable of the sustainable activities/attributes of the campus throughout the construction and furnishing of the facility. EPA anticipates the award of a cost share contract. NAICS No. 233320 applies, with a size standard of $17M. Interested parties who believe they are qualified to perform this effort must submit a written narrative statement of capability within 15 days of this notice to Laconda Cannady at the above address for consideration by the Agency. Responses must include detailed technical information and other technical literature demonstrating the ability to meet these requirements. If no affirmative responses are received within 15 days of this notice, the Government will proceed with the procurement of these services with The International Design Center for the Environment. See Numbered Notes 22,25, and 26.*****
