- Description
- The U. S. Coast Guard is considering whether or not to set-aside an acquisition for Historically Underutilized Business Zone (HUBZone) concerns only. The estimated magnitude of this construction project is between $250,000.00 and $500,000.00. The applicable North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) for this acquisition is 235910 and the small business size standard is $11.5 Million. The acquisition is for the Paint and Repair of the Potable Water Tower at the U. S. Coast Guard Training Center Yorktown, Yorktown, VA. The scope of the project consists of rehabilitation of a 150,000 gallon elevated potable water storage tank. Work includes structural repairs to the concrete foundation, the balcony floor plates, the balcony railing and access point, the tower bracing system, and the roof. A new overflow discharge pipe shall be installed. The ladder systems (tower, balcony, and roof) shall be replaced with a new system that meets all OSHA standards. The tanks cathodic protection system shall receive minor repairs and a thorough inspection, and some loose electrical wiring shall be secured. Work includes a based bid and unit bid items. At the present time, the acquisition is expected to be issued under full and open competition procedures. However, in accordance with FAR 19.1305, if your firm is HUBZone certified and intends to submit an offer on this acquisition, please respond by e-mail or facsimile to Mrs. Carol Anton at canton@fdcclant.uscg.mil or (757) 852-3495 (fax). In your response include: (a) a positive statement of your intention to submit a bid for this solicitation as a prime contractor; (b) evidence of experience in work similar in type and scope to include contract numbers, project titles, dollar amounts, and points of contacts and telephone numbers; and, (c) a positive statement of your remaining bonding capability. Your response is requested by November 8, 2001. All of the above must be submitted in sufficient detail for a decision to be made on availability of interested HUBZone concerns. Failure to submit all information requested may result in a contractor not being considered as an interested HUBZone concern. A decision on whether this will be pursued as a HUBZone small business set-aside or on an unrestricted basis will be posted on the Electronic Posting System (EPS) web site.=20
