- Description
- 1. Manufacture and install one hundred and sixty (160) each, off limit signs along Chena River. Solicitation closes 13:00 Alaska Standard Time 2 Nov. 2001 All materials and signs installed shall meet or exceed Alaska State and Federal specifications for signs and hardware. The sign shall be made of sheet aluminum 5052-H38-chromate conversion coated. Chromate conversion coating shall be ASTM B449, class 2. Type III sheeting shall be AVERY DENNISON series 6200. Lettering shall be red electro cut translucent vinyl, Avery Dennison, series 6002. NOT SCREEN PRINTED LETTERING. Post assembly shall be (1) 2 in. x 2 in. x 12 foot post and (1) 2-1/4 in. x 2-1/4 in. x 42 in. post with bolts. The posts shall be heavy wall carbon steel ASTM A 446 with a zinc coating both sides ASTM A coated G 90. The 42 in. post shall be ground embedded to a depth of 40 in. and the 12 foot post attached to the 2 remaining inch es, of the 42 in. post, above ground by bolt and nut. The sign shall be attached to the 12 foot post by aluminum drive rivets. The bottom of the sign shall be 7 feet above the ground. Contractor shall commence work installing post and signs within 5 da ys of receiving notice to proceed and complete within 21 working days after work commences. 2. The sign will be 2 inches wide and 30 inches high, will have a white background with red lettering and will read as follows: US GOVERNMENT PROPERTY NO ENTRY/EXIT PERMANENTLY OFF LIMITS TO UNAUTHORIZED PERSONNEL 3. Signs shall be 500 feet apart on both sides of the river. However they should be staggered so they are 250 feet apart as one proceeds along the river ie: one on the right then 250 feet later one on the left, then 250 feet later one on the right, etc. Climatic and Soils Conditions 1. The following is a general description of climatic and soils conditions on Ft. Wainwright Alaska during November and December. All temperatures are in degrees F while precipitation and depths are in inches. 2. Temperature extremes for November and December could be as cold as 50 degrees F. Currently sunrise occurs at 09:18 and sunset at 17:52. We are loosing from 6 to 8 minutes of daylight a day. By the end of December the daily sunlight will be less than four hours per day. Nov. Dec. Soils will be composed primarily of silts with some sands and gravel intrusions. The Chena River could be frozen to a depth of 40 inches or more depending on temperatures and snow cover by the end of November.
