- Description
- The Piney Campground Fishing Pier Replacement request for quotation is to remove the existing and provide a new fixed piling, public access, fishing pier at Piney Campground, at Land Between The Lakes National Recreation Area, near Dover, Tennessee. Scope of Work: Remove the existing combination floating/fixed fishing pier. The existing 7-feet wide fishing pier is a combination of a 95-feet long concrete and steel piling fixed pier section with a wooden deck and a 72-feet long concrete deck and foam floating ?T? section at the end. There are 8 guide poles that will also need to be removed. The concrete and steel ?I?-beam pilings for the fixed portion of the pier shall remain to be modified and reused to support a portion of the new pier. Provide a complete and useable pier in the approximate location of the existing pier. The pier shall be fixed at the 362-feet elevation and shall transition from the paved parking lot that is approximately the same elevation to the pier deck. The new public access, wood deck, fixed piling pier shall be Life Safety Code and ADA compliant, 8-feet wide and approximately 168-feet long with an additional 12-feet wide X 40-feet long ?T? section at the end, with 42-inch wooden handrails around the entire pier perimeter. The first 95-feet section of the new pier closest to the shore shall modify and reuse the 6 pairs of existing pilings. These 16-inch concrete pilings are 7-feet apart and 16-feet on center with steel ?I?-beam supports bolted to the top of the concrete. The top of these existing piles vary from 358-feet to 361-feet in elevation. The pier installation can use either: heavy duty, 5.5-mil hot dipped galvanized, 4-inch round steel pipe or 4-inch x 4-inch square steel tube, or 12-inch round 40-year ground contact timber for the support structure; 40-year ground contact pressure treated 2x6 or 2x8 decking, with treated wood top, center and bottom handrail using metal or wood support posts. The pier structure and decking shall be capable of 100 pound per square foot live loading with minimal deflection. The Kentucky Lake bottom is mud and slopes gently from approximately 353-feet elevation at the last existing concrete piling to 348-feet elevation at the end of the proposed pier location. The proposed contract is 100% set aside for small business concerns. Applicable Davis Bacon Wage Rates for Construction will be incorporated with the solicitation package. The package is expected to be released on or around October 24, 2001.
