The computer will be used as the Control Station computer for the Advanced Hornet Munition System and will replace the current Army Handheld Terminal Unit computer . The computer must meet the moisture and dirt intrusion requirements of NEMA 12 and IP 54 and the shock and vibration requirements of MIL-STD-810E or MIL-STD-810F as well as IEC 529. The computer must be equipped with a daylight-readable, active matrix TFT color display. The CPU should be at least a Pentium III with a minimum clock rate of 300 MHz. The memory requirements are 128 MB of DRAM, expandable to 256 MB, and a minimum 4 GB Hard Disk Drive. The computer shall be equipped with a 3.5 in. 1.44 MB Floppy Disk Drive, a CD- ROM or DVD Drive, or one Type-III PCMCIA/CardBus slot. The Floppy Disk Drive and the CD-ROM Drive may be removable and interchangeable. The minimum external I/O requirements for the computer are one 6 pin DS-102 mini-DIN, two RS-232 serial ports, one parallel port, and one USB port. A highly desirable option includes one integrated wired LAN (10/100 MB Ethernet) with an RJ-45 connector. The computer must be 8 lbs. or lighter, have a backlit keyboard, be capable of at least 5 continuous hours of full operation on internal battery power alone, and have integrated power management such as suspend/resume functionality and hibernation mode. The computer must be delivered with Windows NT Workstation version 4.0 installed. Suppliers capable of furnishing the above-described item may so indicate, by writing to Mr. Timothy Jensen, AMSTA-AQ-APA, Bldg. 10, Picatinny, NJ 07806. In addition, your response may include two representative demonstration units that physically and functionally meet the specified requirements which the Government will examine using Government owned/installed software (non-destructive). Examination is scheduled for 05 NOV 2001. In order to be included in this examination, demo units must be received at Picatinny Arsenal by 02 NOV 2001. Units must be shipped both to and from Picatinny Arsenal at owner s expense. It is expected that the demos will be examined until 30 NOV 2001.
