Contractor must have a mammogram machine that meets the FDA's MQSA standards. The VA Hospital does not have such a machine. The Contractor must examine patients at its own facility (or contract with a nearby facility) and transmit reports and bills to the VA Hospital by computer. Examining facility must be within a few miles of the Phoenix VA Hospital. The Fiscal Year 2001 Workload was 500 Screenings, 118 Diagnostic Unilateral, and 205 Diagnostic Bilateral.
