Description
. The Air Force Research Laboratory, Advanced Guidance Division will host an Industry Day meeting on 31 Oct, 01, in Ft. Walton Beach, Florida at the Graduate Engineering and Research Center (GERC), 1350 North Poquito Road. Directions to the GERC will be provided prior to the event. The format will consist of a half-day for MNG overview briefings to Industry (0830 ? 1200), and a half-day (afternoon) for MNG/individual contractor, (30 minute) one-on-one sessions if desired. This will be an unclassified, informal forum. The Navigation and Control Branch (MNGN) will discuss planned research in the following three areas: (1) Vision-based guidance using optic flow for navigation (inspired through biological system concepts), fully exploiting all information obtained from each weapon seeker and navigation subsystem in support of a more robust endgame solution; (2) Enhanced weapon effectiveness and cooperative control/attack capability of wide-area search munitions when coupled with off-board sensor information and inter-weapon communication; (3) Integrated antijam (AJ) GPS/IMU navigation unit that is small, robust, and low-cost. The Seeker Branch (MNGS) will discuss planned procurements involving RF, LADAR and Multi Spectral seeker technology development. The most near term procurement (FY02 new start) will focus on a Wide Area Search Synthetic Aperture Radar (WASSAR) seeker program. The intent will be to develop next generation SAR seeker technology that will provide high resolution, critical mobile and re-locatable targeting through adverse weather conditions. The Seeker Image & Signal Processing Branch (MNGI) conducts research into algorithm development for finding and identifying critical mobile targets. At present, they are interested in expanding their technology base into SAR signal processing in support of the MNGS WASSAR seeker program. Specifically, they are interested in novel autonomous target acquisition algorithms, which can operate in a semi-realtime environment. There is no fee associated with attendance at this Industry Day. RSVP for Industry Day participation by email NLT 24 Oct, 01 to Ms. Linda Knight, linda.knight@eglin.af.mil. Please include the name of your firm and number and name of attendees and whether you intend to have a one-on-one session. Visit requests should be faxed to Ms. Linda Knight at (850) 882-4638 and must arrive NLT 24 Oct, 01. A ?Team Building Function? (all day event) is planned for 1 Nov, 01. Call or email Mr. Roger Smith, roger.smith2@eglin.af.mil for additional information and reservation (850) 882-4631 ext. 2380.
