Description

NAVAIR Lakehurst intends to procure on a sole-source basis with Smiths Aerospace, Vandalia, Ohio for twenty (20) GCU Assembly Fixture for the F/A-18 Aircraft. The acquisition is for supplies for which the Government does not own specifications or complete drawings. Smiths Aerospace is the only known source with the knowledge, experience and technical data required to perform this effort. This requirement is for 20 for GCU Assembly Fixtures, P/N SEV9050. The GCU Assembly Fixture is used at the Intermediate Maintenance level to provide a versatile and stable platform on which to perform maintenance of the F/A-18 GCU?s. Currently, there is no means available to freely rotate a GCU to perform maintenance from various angles as often is required. The Government anticipates a firm-fixed price contract. Delivery shall be FOB Destination to Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division (NAWCAD) Lakehurst, NJ 08733. The GCU's will be shipped in accordance with best commercial practices. Firms that recognize and produce the required items are encouraged to identify themselves. All responsible sources may submit a proposal, which may be considered by the Government in determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. A determination by the Government not to open the requirement to competition based on the responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. See Note 22
