Description

The Naval Surface Warfare Center, Dahlgren Division intends to negotiate on a sole source basis with ATK Precision Fuze Company, 104 Rock Road, Horsham, PA 19044 for the development and qualification of a lithium liquid-reserve battery. The battery design will rely heavily on the MOFA battery, but with a higher voltage and power rating. The sole source is based upon previous efforts of ATK, who developed and currently produces the MOFA battery. The contract will have a phase to investigate electrolytes, with a build of 80 batteries, and a second phase to refine the design and build 180 batteries. The lithium liquid-reserve battery is a candidate battery for the MK 419 MOD 1 Multi Function Fuze and other fuzes for 5" ammunition. The estimated solicitation issue date is 15 October 2001, with a closing date of 15 November 2001. The solicitation number is N00178-02-R-1005. Note 22 applies.
