- Description
- The Naval Air Warfare Center, Weapons Division, China Lake, CA intends to procure rabbinical services on a competitive basis. The contractor will provide a rabbi to act as Jewish Director of Religious Education (DRE) at All Faith Chapel, Naval Air Weapons Station, China Lake, California. The DRE will provide Jewish religious education for the qualified members of All Faith Chapel. This program will be based on the religious concepts, perspectives and policies of the Jewish faith. It will use in its curriculum volunteer teachers who are authorized use of NAWS Chapel facilities. The program shall include: (1) Sabbath services both Friday evening and Saturday morning; (2) Participation in the religious school as an advisor; (3) Training of Bar/Bat Mitzvah students; (4) Adult education study sessions; (5) Supervision of study leading to conversion; (6) Counseling; (7) Visiting the ill and aged in base community; (8) Officiating at Brit Milah, Bar/Bat; Mitzvah, funeral services and other lifecycle events when special arrangements can be made; (9) Adult Hebrew classes as needed; (10) Help in providing necessary supervision of any Confirmation class. The DRE shall serve the congregation during a period of performance from 18 October 2001 through 30 September 2002. During this period, the DRE shall visit the community fourteen (14) times, including the High Holy Days. For regular worship services, he/she shall arrive in China Lake by 5:00 p.m. on Fridays. He/she shall be available through noon on Sunday. If functions are finished earlier, the DRE may leave after functions are completed. The subject congregation comprises approximately eighty-five (85) persons. Required qualifications: Ordained rabbi in good standing with the Union of American Hebrew Congregations (UAHC). This requirement is for services and travel only, and does not include materials. This is a small purchase, small business set aside. The NAICS number is 813110 and the size standard is five (5) million dollars. This combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial services is prepared in accordance with the format in subpart 12.6, as supplemented with additional information included in this notice. This announcement constitutes the only solicitation; we request quotations, and a written solicitation will not be issued. The solicitation number is N68936-01-T-0289. This solicitation document and incorporated provisions and clauses are those in effect through Federal Acquisition Circular 90-37. Performance is required from 18 October 2001 through 30 September 2002, at the Naval Air Weapon Station China Lake, CA. FOB point is Destination.
