Description

The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) intends to enter into a sole source contract with the National Academy of Sciences (NAS), 2101 Constitution Avenue, Washington, D.C. under the authority of 41 U.S.C. 253(c)(1) -- Only one responsible source. This procurement requires the expertise of an unbiased and independent research organization, with multidisciplinary membership, to provide an impartial annual assessment of the NIST Laboratories. NAS is uniquely qualified to perform this requirement based on its breadth of available academic, government and private sector resources from which it draws its expertise and knowledge in the areas of science and engineering. The period of performance for this requirement is from award of the contract through September 30, 2002, with one additional 1-year option period. The Government anticipates the award of a cost-reimbursement (no fee) contract. The proposed requirement is for supplies or services for which the Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under authority of FAR 6.302. Interested persons may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement or submit proposals. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. A Request for Proposal (RFP) package is not available. See CBD Notes 22 and 26.***
