Description

NASA/LaRC plans to issue an IFB for SERVICES AND MATERIALS FOR ELEVATOR INSTALLATION FOR BUILDING 1251A. The work to be performed includes, but is not limited to, the following: A two-story elevator addition built adjacent to existing Building 1251A. The addition shall be brick and block masonry bearing wall construction with steel joists and concrete slabs. The roof framing shall be steel joists and insulated built-up roofing. The interior will be painted block with carpeting, vinyl composition tile flooring, acoustical panel ceilings and a painted trim. The elevator shall be a 2500-pound capacity hydraulic elevator. Alterations to existing walls, floors and ceilings and new doors and frames will be required. The work includes extension of existing electrical work for power and lighting. Mechanical work includes modifications to existing hot water heating and modifications to existing HVAC ductwork. Site work includes a new handicapped accessible ramp, exterior stairs, new concrete pavement for parking, alterations to walks and grading and seeding. The order of magnitude for the procurement is between $250,000 and $500,000 and the effort shall be completed within 180 calendar days after notice to proceed. This procurement is part of the Small Business Competitiveness Demonstration Program. The NAICS Code and small business size standard for this procurement are 233320 and $27.5M, respectively. The anticipated release date of the IFB is on or about September 28, 2001 with an anticipated offer closing date of on or about November 1, 2001. The firm date for receipt of bids or offers will be stated in the IFB. All QUALIFIED responsible sources may submit a bid which shall be considered by the agency. An ombudsman has been appointed -- See NASA Specific Note "B". The solicitation, specifications, drawings, and any documents related to this procurement will be available over the Internet. These documents will be in Microsoft Office 97 format except the drawings which are in PDF format and will reside on a World-Wide Web (WWW) server, which may be accessed using a WWW browser application.
