Description

The Bureau of Engraving and Printing (BEP) is interested in obtaining, testing and evaluating non-aluminum-based metallic and iridescent inks or pigments that are suitable for printing US securities using cylinder-wipe intaglio presses. The Bureau is therefore seeking potential suppliers of either finished metallic or iridescent intaglio cylinder-wipe inks or dry or pre-dispersed metallic or iridescent pigments that could be incorporated into cylinder-wipe intaglio ink formulations. The Bureau has a particular interest in a green iridescent or metallic ink or pigment in a color similar to Pantone 8321U or 8321 C or between 583U and 576U and silvery-gray metallic inks similar to Pantone 877 U or 877 C. For initial screening purposes, interested parties are requested to submit preliminary samples (100 grams of pigment or 1 lb of finished ink) and a brief technical descriptions plus cost information for the purchase of large test quantities (80 ? 100 lbs) to the BEP, Securities Technology Institute, Attn: Sara Church, 14th and C Sts, SW, Washington, DC 20228. Larger quantities of samples may be procured through simplified acquisition (small purchase) for further evaluation. Previously submitted materials need not be resubmitted.
