- Description
- The USDA, Agricultural Research Service in Albany, California has a requirement for one robotic system to perform as a high throughput molecular biology liquid handling workstation in preparing thousands of DNA probes for microarray research; robotic workstation with variable spacing system, multiflow dispensing system, multiple-plate (at least 4 plates) high-speed shaker system, microplate holder/shaker, automated vacuum system, robotic handling system, labware tracking system, buffer tracking system, cooling/heating system, reagent holders, microplate stations, detachable plate stacker, and programmable with Windows NT computer system. Robotic system must be fully automated with computer protocols for automated DNA sequencing, PCR setup, and isolation of ultrapure nucleic acids. Robotic handling system must be able to transfer labware such as plates, blocks, vials, and bottles to various positions on worktable and plates, allowing fully automated protocols. Provide fully automated vacuum processing; must be highly efficient in removing contaminants for high-yields and reproducibility; Peltier-effect heating pump system to perform heating and cooling between 4 and 80 degrees C; fast temperature ramp-up rates in nucleic acid preparation and high-speed computer-controlled shaker system for efficient cellular lysis. A minimum of 8-probe tip-adapter/diluter system for high-speed dispensing and short processing times by delivering a continuous flow of buffers and other liquids through channels simultaneously (minimum of 8 channnels); accurate dispensing volumes as small as 200ul. Versatile pipetting bridge for combinations of washable steel probes and disposable tips; have multiple tracking systems that allow sample recognition and tracking in data tables and monitoring amounts of remaining reagents; must be equipped with a vacuum manifold necessary for DNA isolation.
