Description

The Marine Corps Systems Command intends to negotiate a sole source contract for the Marine Corps Warfighting Lab for eight (8), with an option for four (4), M3M .50 Cal Machine Gun Weapon Systems for comparative analysis. This M3M Pintle Weapon System is to be installed on three ground vehicles -- the Humvee, 5-ton truck, and 7-ton truck and includes the mount; 100, 400, and 600 ammo boxes; and associated spare parts. This M3M Pintle Weapon System is a high firing rate machine gun (1,100 rounds per minute) with a single barrel, accurate firing, and contains an open bolt firing mechanism to reduce cook-off risk, with a safety lever to avoid undesirable firing, enhanced firing control, low recoil forces and locking in horizontal swiveling. A proposal for a commercial contract will be solicited from FN Herstal, Liege, Belgium.*****
