- This solicitation is issued as a combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial items and is prepared in accordance with the format in FAR Subpart 12, as supplemented with additional information included in this notice. The solicitation documents, incorporated provisions and clauses, are those in effect through FAC 97-26. This announcement constitutes the only solicitation; quotations are being requested and no written solicitations will be issued. The solicitation number is 549-01-RFQ-207 and the NAICS code is 421450 (size 100 employees). The contracting activity, located at the VA North Texas Health Care System (VANTHCS), 4500 S. Lancaster Road, Dallas, TX. 75216, requires the procurement of Type III Crown and Bridge Casting Alloy. The Type III crown and bridge casting alloy must meet the following percentages of elements in the alloy, (+ or -- .5%), and the specifications required by the end user, the Central Dental Lab, at the VANTHCS: Au (gold) 46%; Pd (palladium) 6%; Ag (silver) 39.5%; Cu (copper) 7.5%; and Zn (zinc) 1.0%. The melting range must be between 1652 degrees Fahrenheit to 1832 degrees Fahrenheit. The Vickers Hardness scale will be utilized and the alloy must register between 135 (soft) to 230 (hard). The crown and bridge casting alloy must be compatible with induction casting procedures and must be acceptable by the using service, the Central Dental Lab. Pricing of the alloy will also include all shipping charges. (FOB Destination). This solicitation incorporates by reference FAR Clauses and Provisions, FAR 52.212-1, 52.212-3, 52-212-4, and addenda (52.214-21, 52.227-19, 52.233-2, 52.233-3, and 852.270-4). Interested parties who are able to provide the requested items, are encouraged to submit sealed quotations on company letterhead, along with the completed FAR Provision 52.212-3, "Offeror Representations and Certifications". No phone or e-mail request will be accepted. Since the price of gold fluctuates daily, a fax of the quote will be accepted on the bid opening date. The written request must include a check or money order in the amount of $10.00 and must be made out to the Department of Veterans Affairs.
