Description

Under Statutory Authority 41 USC 253 (c)(1) the US Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center (VAMC) Minneapolis, Minnesota, anticipates entering into a sole source procurement with the American Red Cross North Central Blood Services, St. Paul, Minnesota. The above authority is cited and justification is made based on the determination that the Government's minimum needs can best be satisfied by supplies and services that are available from one source per FAR 6.302-1(b)(1). The American Red Cross shall provide the VAMC's requirements for Human Blood and Blood Products on an as needed basis to include emergency deliveries to be made within 30 minutes of notification of need. It is anticipated that the contract will be issued for the period from October 1, 2001 through September 30, 2002 with two 12-month options to renew. Other persons or entities may identify their interest and capability to respond to this requirement by submitting a response in writing to the VAMC Minneapolis Contracting Office by September 18, 2001. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. Bid documents are not available.
