- Description
- NASA/ARC plans to issue a Request for Quote (RFQ) for Motor Generator Replacement. The Statement of Work includes provision and installation (turnkey) of two (2) self contained nominal 180kW (prime rated) diesel motor generators with a 227/480 Volt, 3-Phase output at 60 Hz. The units must be EPA approved based on emission standards. The units replace two existing units located in a 30'x20' Butler-style building situated east of the 8x7 Wind Tunnel. Also included in this work package, are the demolition and removal of the two existing units, and any ancillary equipment, up to interface connection points. The new motor generators provide the prime source of electrical power to the Unitary Plan Wind Tunnel lubrication systems that serve the tunnel drive motors and compressors. Only one unit is operated at a time; Utility power is an automatically switched standby source, with the secondary generator serving as a manual (off-line) backup. The units will be rotated from primary to secondary. Specific equipment requirements, installation requirements, and other characteristics used for evaluation purposes will be included with the Request for Quote, when posted. This procurement is being conducted under the Simplified Acquisition Procedures (SAP). The Government intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR PART 12.
