- Description
- PlotData Software Real-Time Reduction and Manipulation of Waveform Data Technology Transfer Opportunity Sandia National Laboratories has developed a computer program, PlotData, to review, reduce and manipulate waveform data. PlotData reads waveform data over a GPIB bus and imports or exports several types of binary waveform files including, but not limited to, Tektronix WFM files and XY pair ASCII files. Waveform manipulation includes numerous math functions, integration, differentiation, smoothing, truncation, and other specialized data reduction routines such as VISAR PVDF and Carbon pressure gauge routines. Additional data acquisition and processing routines are easily added. Unique features include extremely simple operations that provide real time waveform data manipulation. When an operation is invoked, all data changes are displayed instantly so that the operator can evaluate the efficacy of that operation. For example, when the smoothing operation is invoked, a control knob will appear on the main screen. As the operator turns the knob, the smoothing operation is applied to the waveform instantly and continuously, and the operator immediately sees the results of the smoothing operation. Other competing programs require the operator to input parameters on a separate screen, then return to the waveform screen only to discover he or she has entered the wrong value and has to repeat the procedure until the correct results have been achieved. Operators can perform multiple operations on multiple waveforms simultaneously and view the results in real time. The program is written in Windows format for easy operator interaction. An operator's manual for the program is literally not needed. Sandia is making this program available to companies interested in partnering with Sandia to market, maintain, and further develop the program via licensing or cooperative development agreements.
