- Description
- The Illinois Division Office of the Federal Highway Administration FHWA has a need for research that will define the machinability of high performance steels in quantifiable terms. This research shall include the quenched and tempered, thermo-mechanically processed, and hot rolled forms of ASTM A709 and A710. The machinability will be compared to A36, the standard structural steel used in bridges in the United States for more than 50 years. The contractor shall investigate several machining operations, using direct measurement of cutting tool wear, quality of the machined surfaces, various material factors, power consumption, and research of the known technical literature. This is a Simplified Acquisition under Federal Acquisition Regulation Part 13, which applies to all acquisitions at anticipated dollar levels of $100,000 and under. A purchase order will be awarded to the offeror whose offer, conforming to the Statement of Work, is the best value for the Government using price and other related factors. The North American Product Classification System Code is 541710 and the small business standard is 500 employees. THIS REQUIREMENT IS AN UNRESTRICTED PURCHASE, which means all qualified sources may respond regardless of company size. A copy of the solicitation may be requested via fax number 217-492-4317, to the attention of Janet Rawlings. REQUESTS WILL ONLY BE RECEIVED VIA FAX, NO TELEPHONIC REQUESTS WILL BE HONORED. The request must include your company name, address, phone numbers and contact name, as well as the solicitation number DTFH61-01-Q-00180. The point of contact for this requirement is Janet Rawlings (217-492-4617) in the Illinois Division Office. The anticipated award date is on or about September 30, 2001.=20
