Description
The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) intends to negotiate, on a sole source basis, under authority of FAR 13.106-1(b)(1), with ADE Technologies, Inc., of Newton, Massachusetts, for acquisition of a Bipolar Magnet Power Supply System, to be used by the Materials Science Engineering Laboratory of the Metallurgy Division at NIST. All components of the system must be completely compatible and interoperable with the Vibrating Sample Magnetometer (VSM) system that is currently in existence at NIST. ADE Technologies is, therefore, the only manufacturer that can supply the required system components to the Government.*****The Bipolar Magnet Power Supply System shall meet the following specifications: Into a load of 80 mH, 0.5 ohms: current noise less than 100 microamps; voltage noise less than 0.2 millivolts; current capability plus or minus 140 amperes; voltage capability plus or minus 76 volts; AC supply 3 phase, 60 A, 208 V; maximum dimensions 24" wide by 36" deep by 72" high; shall provide the following when using the field control system: field resolution better than 1 A/m(0.01 Oe); overshoot-free field setting; real-time full-time field control; computer control of field and field sweep rate; and field sweep speeds up to 160 kA/s (2kOe/s); cooling requirements 2 gpm tap water at 80 psi; shall have a cooling water interlock and thermal shutoff; shall be controllable using an analog signal of plus minus 10 v; shall be protected against loss of AC input power; shall include a field control system providing for computer control. In addition, the contractor shall provide installation of the power supply and field control into existing NIST VSM system; and shall train NIST personnel in the use of the system, on site, at NIST, Gaithersburg, Maryland.***** A one-year warranty on parts and labor shall be included.*****Delivery shall be FOB Destination, Gaithersburg, MD, and is required within 90 days or less from receipt of purchase order (ARO).*****The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code for this acquisition is 334519, and the size standard is 500 Employees.*****No solicitation package will be issued. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotations. However, responses received by SEPTEMBER 5, 2001 will be considered by the Government. A determination by the Government not to compete the proposed acquisition based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.=20
