Description

The Fleet and Industrial Supply Center Puget Sound has a requirement for overhaul kits for repair of the Main Propulsion Diesel Engines (MPDE) on board the USS Guardian (MCM-5) and USS Patriot (MCM-7) located at the Naval Ship Repair Facility, Sasebo, Japan. The acquisition will be solicited on a sole source basis to the OEM for the MPDE's, Isotta Fraschini of Italy or their U.S. distributor, FDGM, Inc. The overhaul kits are proprietary to Isotta Fraschini. Therefore the Government does not have access to any information that would allow for competitive procurement. The kits to be acquired are as follows: 1) MPDE Overhaul Parts Kit, P/N MCM125, 2 kits; 2) Improved Double Gear Modification Kit, P/N MCM211, 8 kits; 3) Horizontal Walker Airsep Kit, P/N MCM173, 4 kits; 4) Vertical Walker Airsep Kit, P/N MCM176, 10 kits; 5) Vibracon Spherical Chock, P/N MCM128, 54 each; 6) Rillenlager Bearing Kit, P/N MCM220, 4 kits; and 7) Gallery Cooled Piston Upgrade Kit, P/N MCM219, 5 kits. Delivery of the kits are required within 120 days after contract award. It is anticipated that the RFQ will be issued on or about 05 Sep 01 and close on or about 17 Sep 01. The procedures of FAR Part 12, Commercial Acquisition, will be utilized. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed contract based upon any responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. =20
