Description

Modification: Magnitude of construction 10 million to 25 million. The Portland District of the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers intends to solicit offers for the Willamette Temperature Control Cougar Dam Intake Tower Modifications. The purpose of this project is to modify the existing intake tower at Cougar Dam to allow the selective withdrawal of water from various levels in the reservoir, during the periods of thermal stratification, to more closely meet pre-project temperatures below the reservoir. By selectively withdrawing water from the reservoir, the water temperature downstream of the project can be modified to better aid the survival of endangered Spring Chinook salmon and bull trout. The existing intake tower will be modified by adding a new wetwell, weir gates to selectively withdraw water from the reservoir, and regulating outlet and penstock bypass gates. Critical tasks to be accomplished as part of this project include 1) diversion of rush creek and construction of a concrete cofferdam for seasonal flood protection; 2) demolition of the existing concrete trash structure and fingerling bypass ports ; 3) fabrication and installation of the steel weir gates, regulating outlet gates, and penstock bypass gate; 4) construction of the new concrete wetwell and machinery building; and 5) manufacture and installation of the gate hoist machinery. Magnitude of construction is 10 million to 25 million. Invitation for Bids (IFB) for the Willamette Temperature Control Cougar Dam Intake Tower, DACW57-01-B-0016 will be available free of charge, on or about September 10, 2001 in CD ROM format. Tentative Bid Opening date is October 25, 2001. This procurement is open to both large and small business concerns. The small business size standard for this acquisition including all affiliates, and having average annual sales or receipts of the preceding three years cannot exceed $27.5 million.
