Description
DESC: The U. S. Department of Energy's National Energy Technology Laboratory (NETL), Pittsburgh, PAhe U. S. Department of Energy, National Energy Technology Laboratory (NETL), Pittsburgh, PA intends to award a purchase order on a sole-source basis to TSI, Inc., St. Paul MN to provide a 2-Demensional PIV (Partical Image Velocimetry) for image capturing and post-image data analysis of pressurized reactiing flow environment. a 2-Demensional PIV (Partical Image Velocimetry) for image capturing and post-image data analysis of pressurized reactiing flow environment. The MINIMUM requirements of the system should include the following components: 1. Digital Camera: Interline progressive scan with micro lens CCD, 1K x 1K (2K X 1K preferred) pixels, 8-bit, 30 frames/second, F- or C- mount, 28 mm or larger lens, F # 2.8, UV lens preferred. Variable exposure window for single or multiple image on single frame. Minimum frame-straddling time 400 nsec. A/D converter 8bit @ 30 MHz, TTL trig input, all BNC connectors. If the camera in item (1) is controlled by a computer, it shall be a Microsoft operation system (OS) orientated PC (other computers such Apple or Macintosh, and OS are not acceptable), vendor shall provide a PC PCI bus interface card and cable(s). All camera setting shall be adjusted and programmed through PC via the interface card and cable(s). Vendor shall provide full documentation for the camera. 2. Programmable Acquisition and Control Unit for PIV image acquisition: Function as a main control unit to coordinate of all PIV image acquisition component triggering and timing including (i) firing a double-pulse YAG laser from Continuum, Santa Clara, California, the PIV camera in item (1); (ii) opening and closing (programmable exposure window) the shutter (electronic) of the camera for imaging; (iii) capable of capturing multiple images on single frame and single image on single frame. This unit shall connect to a PC via standard COM or USB port, or a vendor provided PC PCI bus interface card. Setting on this unit shall be done via software. Vendor shall provide full documentation for the unit. 3. Software: Vendor shall provide software specially written for processing and analyzing PIV images. The software shall calculate velocities of interrogated areas of PIV using algorithms such auto- or cross-correlation, or methods patented by vendor. Software shall generate plots including velocity component and vector, vorticity, and other major velocity parameters. Software shall provide important flow (velocity) statistics such as turbulent intensity, standard of deviation, and average. Vendor shall provide documentation for the software. Vendor shall provide the diskettes/CDs of the software. All software and hardware shall be run on Microsoft Windows based platform; i.e., Windows 98, 2000, or NT. Software shall support high-speed data transfer (up to 90 Mbytes/sec) for real-time image capture. Support 32-bit environment. 4. Warranties & Supports: One year warrant on parts and labors. Vendor shall provide training of the system and software. Free first year technical support to the PIV hardware and software. If needed, vendor shall provide on-site assistance; e.g., installation, hardware setup. 5. Cables: Vendor shall provide interface cables for all provided components. 6. Image/Data Formats: Image shall transfer to personal computer for storage and post process. Image shall be in TIF, BMP, or JPG format. Data such as analytical results, velocity plots, shall be in DOS ASCII or Microsoft Windows text formats which shall be imported to Words, Word Pad, etc. 7. Laser Light Sheet Optics: Capable of receiving, transmitting, and converting laser light from high power Nd:YAG laser (at least 200 mJ) light of 532 nm wavelength to light sheet with nominal thickness 1 mm or less. All laser beams within the unit must be enclosed. Minimum of three choices of laser sheet divergence angles is required. Optical power loss due to transmission and reflection in the unit shall be 10 percent or less. 8. Stereoscopic Upgrade Capability: The system shall be capable for Stereoscopic (3-Dimensional) upgrade with minimal hardware and software modifications/purchases such as adding a second camera, calibration kits, camera mounts. In addition, if new software is needed for stereoscopic imaging, NETL shall be allowed to return the 2-D software, pay the difference of the software current price between 2-D and 3-D and receive the 3-D software from the vendor. 9. Delivery to be made via commercial courier to NETL's Morgantown WV. Site. This request is considered to be a sole-source to TSI Inc., due to the upgradeablity of the TSI system. Therefore, no solicitation shall result from announcement procedure. Any firm believing that they can provide the required equipment may submit a written response clearly showing it's ability to provide the required equipment, which will be considered by this agency. Request for information should be addressed to Mr. Thomas J. Gruber, FAX 412.386.6137 or E-mail gruber@fetc.doe.gov.
